Information Technology University (ITU) will host the second chapter of TEDxITU on Saturday at Arfa Software Technology Park. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Afraad Ke Hathon Main Hai.’
Speakers at TEDxITU will include veteran Coke Studio artist Ali Hamza, TED Fellow and digital rights activist Nighat Dad, Danielle Sharaf – one of the country’s leading young technology entrepreneurs – TED Senior Fellow, artist and animator Usman Riaz, educationalist and social activist Nishat Riaz, Arshad Faruqui, who won the 2012 Institute of Architects Pakistan Design Excellence Award, and Ahmer Naqvi, a cofounder of Pursukoon Karachi, among others.

TED is a platform for sharing ideas. Founded in 1984 as a conference where technology, entertainment and design converge, TED brings together ideas from a broad spectrum onto one platform. TEDx events are independently organized multidisciplinary conferences. These events help share ideas in communities around the world.
TEDxITU is curated as a community-based platform where some of the best minds in Pakistan are invited to share their ideas.
Besides these sessions, TEDxITU is also planning ‘action breaks’ to encourage connectivity, curiosity and a sense of play for participants. The event is sponsored by the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) and Inbox Technologies.
ITU is a public sector university in Pakistan. The university houses 14 applied research centers which are working towards R&D of sustainable and affordable ICT solutions for unique problems faced by underdeveloped communities.
