7 startups from Pakistan have been selected for Startup Istanbul, a leading startup conference in Eurasia. The four-day event will take place at the Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul, Turkey from 6-10 October, 2016 and will see 100 startups from more than 40 countries gather under the same roof.
The startups will get an opportunity to meet internet companies, angel investors, venture capitalists and other leading startups from the US, Europe and the Middle East.
From 6-7th October, the startups will be able to pitch their ideas and business plans to mentors and get feedback from them. Then the top 50 startups will be invited to an investor only demo day on the 8th of October where they will get an opportunity to pitch their ideas to more than 500 investors.
The top 15 startups will then go through to the startup finals and will present their idea on the main stage of Startup Istanbul.
The startups selected from Pakistan include Plan 9’s Campus Feed, Euphoria, Mall of Pakistan Cyphlon and Webify; Bookme.pk which is a PlanX alumni, and Treble from the LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship.
Ali Ahmad, co-founder of Euphoria said, “We’re really looking forward to the event because we’ll be able to connect with new mentors and investors. We want to be able to open our own virtual reality center in Pakistan that can help people overcome different psychological problems using virtual reality playrooms.”
Startup Istanbul is one of many global startup conferences that now take place every year and provide the perfect opportunity for investors to establish new business relationships while the startups in return are able to get more global exposure and funding for their projects.
