Freelancers Set to Throng Arfa Tech Park for National Convention on March 28th

The National Freelancing Convention (NFC) will take place at Arfa Software Technology Park, Lahore on the 28th March, 2017. The day-long event will incorporate four sessions and six meetups running parallel. These will showcase more than 150 bloggers, co-working spaces, fin-tech companies, payment solutions, startups, incubators and IT companies. Also, for the first time in Pakistan, a Crossover Hiring Tournament (Hackathon) will be held at the NFC.

The event promises to bring together leading freelancers from all across Pakistan as well as allow all relevant stakeholders of freelancing to network and interact with each other. According to the organizers, the convention will not only facilitate networking within the Pakistani freelancing community but also help in creating cross-industry avenues for freelancers. The convention hopes to provide a complete view of the entire freelancing community and help them discover opportunities at home and abroad.

At the opening ceremony of the convention, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will launch an e-Rozgaar Program under which the government is establishing 40 co-working spaces and training centers across the province. The program hopes to provide work opportunities for not just students but freelancers as well.

The first session of the convention will be on The Art of Blogging. It will take place from 11am to 12pm and will be followed by a session on Building Efficient Gateways for Freelancers from 12pm to 1pm. The next session will begin after lunch break at 2pm on Women in Tech: Bridging the Gender Divide. The last session on Freelancing to Entrepreneurship; Opportunities and Challenges will be from 3pm to 4pm.

Other events scheduled for the convention are meetups for FaceBook Developers Circle Lahore, Open Source Pakistan, and Official WordPress and Fiverr communities.

Besides CM Shehbaz Sharif, other keynote speakers for the event are Umar Saif, chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board, and Jehangir Khanzada, provincial minister for sports.
