The day-long event will be held on the first anniversary of the Women Empowerment Initiative of the PITB. The project was launched by PITB Chairman Dr Umar Saif.

Besides panel discussions, the event will also feature workshops designed by local partners of Herself, motivational talks by successful entrepreneurs, a theatre play and a Herself Enclosure which shall feature the work of the initiative’s alumni.

Facebook, the official partner for this event, will be collaborating all the way from its headquarters in California. The social media giant will conduct activities and competitions at the convention.

Herself is an initiative launched by the entrepreneurship wing of the PITB which offers training programs to aspiring entrepreneurs. Herself alumni have launched several ventures after their training and manage them independently.

Herself is the only women’s initiative in Pakistan to have partnered with Facebook’s #SheMeansBusiness, which shares stories of successful women on their global website. The aim of this initiative is to empower women by providing them training which can help add to the economy of the country.

“At the PITB, 60 per cent of our workforce is women,” says Dr Saif. “Herself Women Convention is our way of showcasing and celebrating not just the women of the PITB but also women of this entire country.”
