Plan9’s Launchpad will be held at Arfa Software Technology Park in Lahore between July 19 and July 23. The five-day event, organized by the technology incubator of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), will consist of talks, workshops and a competition where startups will be given the opportunity to win a cash prize of Rs100,000.
A Startup Expo will be held on the first day of the Launchpad. As many as 150 startups will be given the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the audience and investors. They will also have an opportunity to get feedback from other innovators and network with fellow entrepreneurs from Pakistan.
International investors and speakers will also be present at the event and will offer startups advice on further refinement of their business model.
Talks and workshops will be conducted by PITB Chairman Dr Umar Saif, Finja co-founder Qasif Shahid, Glenn Kristiansen, Managing Partner at Ahurani Capital and a corporate finance executive, Silicon Straits CEO Jonas Eichhorst, and Rabeel Warraich, founder of Sarmayacar and Vice President (Private Equity) with Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC.
Activities at the Launchpad have been designed to prepare and mentor startups for the competition which will be held in the last two days of the event. In addition to the cash prize, the winners of the competition will also be selected for incubation in the 10th cycle of Plan9.
To register for the Startup Expo, startups have to pay a fee of Rs1,000. They can sign up for the event with the SIMSIM application. A desk will be set up on the 9th floor of Arfa Software Technology Park on July 7, 2017 between 4PM and 6PM to help people register for the event.
